The Legend of MexMan is an off-kilter documentary about obsession, creativity, ambition, and losing yourself a little bit on the way to finding your voice. Something I think is unique about it is how it breaks the artifice between subject and filmmaker over the course of the story, but now I'm giving away some of its surprises! Directed by Josh Polon, I served as editor on the final pass of the film as Josh was looking to mine some footage he hadn't used to deepen the film. My creative partner and I provided story consultation and oversaw finishing services. The Legend of MexMan screens at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival and Big Sky Documentary Film Festival in February 2023.

Horton Foote: The Road to Home premiered at the 2020 Austin Film Festival, where it won an Audience Award. This documentary features never before seen footage of Horton during the final year of his life. The prolific writer was juggling two projects at once: the Broadway premiere of one of his works (which eventually was nominated for two Tony awards) and pre-production on what would become his magnum opus, The Orphan's Home Cycle. A labor of love from first-time director Anne Rapp, the film traces Horton's life, his work and the town that inspired it all. Visit the film's website for more information.
Vinyl Nation digs into the crates of the record resurgence in search of truths set in deep wax: Has the return of vinyl made music fandom more inclusive or divided? What does vinyl say about our past here in the present? How has the second life of vinyl changed how we hear music and how we listen to each other? I edited this documentary with post producer Jason Wehling. We also oversaw graphics and finishing. Visit the Vinyl Nation website to see if it's available in your area.
The Russian Fiveis director Josh Riehl's first feature film and it is equal parts sports movie, spy thriller and underdog story - all set against a punk rock score by Wayne Kramer. It tells the story of how the Detroit Red Wings recruited (and in some cases, facilitated the defections for) five of the Soviet Union's best hockey players in the face of complex geopolitics and Cold War hysteria. I served as the film's editor. The film premiered at the Detroit Free Press Film Festival and received the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the Traverse City Film Festival (founded by Michael Moore). For more about the film, visit The Russian Five website.
